Saina Loses in China Open Final

Defending champion Saina Nehwal lost to the Olympic champion Li Xuerui in the women’s singles final of the China Superseries on 15th November.

World No 7 Xuerui, who won the China Superseries in 2012 and 2013 beat the World No 2 Saina 21-12, 21-15, in just under 40 minutes.

With this victory, Xuerui extended her record to 10-2 against Saina Nehwal. Interestingly, the Chinese won the last six encounters against the Indian, whose last victory against Xuerui came in 2012.

This year, Saina reached five superseries finals and won two, the India Grand Prix Gold and India Open Superseries.
